HINDI makikialam ang Department of Justice (DOJ) sa magiging desisyon ng Office of the Ombudsman kaugnay ng posibleng hospital arrest ni dating House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
Ayon kay DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez, wala sa kanilang mandato ang panghimasukan ang anumang hakbang ng Ombudsman at Office of the Special Prosecutor sa mga kasong nasa ilalim ng kanilang supervision at control.
“The Department of Justice defers to the wisdom of the Office of the Ombudsman, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor, with respect to any actions it may take in cases under its supervision and control,” ani Martinez.
Ito ang naging pahayag ni Martinez matapos sabihin ni Atty. Mico Clavano na susuriing mabuti ng Ombudsman ang anumang mosyon para sa hospital arrest ni Romualdez.
“We will scrutinize the motion and make sure na wala talagang special treatment,” giit ni Clavano.
Si Romualdez ay nahaharap sa kasong plunder kaugnay ng umano’y kickback scheme sa mga proyekto ng flood control.
